bashar assad welcomes death in syria

Pretty Grimm

As March 2012 rolled along, the murder carried on, and the international calls to end it were squirmish and mealy-mouthed, at best.

Laughzilla thought about the sort of relationship Assad was sharing with Death at the time, and came up with this Assad Welcomes Death in Syria cartoon for The Daily Dose.

It has been causing bone-chilling laughter ever since.

happy st. patrick's day from assad of syria

Happy St. Patrick's Day

In the Middle of March, Bashar Assad kept up his killing spree, offing his own subjects at a rate of 30 or so a day, estimates indicated.

Laughzilla considered what kind of PR stumt Assad might pull if he were trying to woo more fans in Ireland, upon St. Patrick’s Day. And so, this Assad St. Patrick’s Day Cartoon came to be.

ides of march and ipads of march editorial cartoon

Beware or Be Where?

As history recorded, the Ides of March and the iPads of March 2012 were closely linked, chronologically.

Laughzilla pointed out the twist with a touch that can only be made by an editorial cartoonist, for The Daily Dose.

Bibi Netanyahu Love thy Neighbor

israel's take - love thy neighbor (and shut your eyes) when it comes to syria in 2021And so it was that the violence in Syria was dominating headlines in the middle of March, 2012, and Syria’s strongest neighbor, Israel, was not doing anything to help calm the situation, or support either side. The internationally acclaimed practice of political non-interference was at play. This, is realpolitik.

In response to this form of political idleness, Oy Vey and Laughzilla thought it would make a nice statement to draw an editorial cartoon to point out the hypocrisy of the Israeli government’s policy, given how many thousands of innocent civilians were being slaughtered in their neighboring state.  Why not at least send humanitarian aid? Why not Love Thy Neighbor as the good book says.

Of course, the answer is, this is politics, and unfortunately for the people of Syria, their country is not blessed with large resources of oil or gas.

Brick.

As March Madness approaches, there are a lot of math and science geniuses who try with all all their skills to calculate the winners and losers of the NCAA basketball championships. This year, 2012, being no different, Laughzilla penned this full color #occupymarchmadness editorial cartoon illustrating the fail attempt by one particular mad scientist on the hardwood court who is sure that he was right, despite failing to make an easy shot to the net.

First published on The Daily Dose, along with a list of top ten mad scientist jokes.

occupyleapyear time bridge cartoon by laughzilla for thedailydose

Aww Snap!

So it happens that the Gregorian calendar must adjust itself by having an extra day every four years. If not, it would be out of sync with the orbit around the Sun. Of course, it’s not as looney as the lunar calendars that adjust nearly every year, like the Jewish calendar, or those that don’t and just go out of sync, like the Muslim calendar.

In any case, this Leap Year, Laughzilla penned this hilarious editorial cartoon for the #OccupyLeapYear movement, which opposes the notion of the top 1% of time controllers, controlling more than half the time of the other 99%.

However you count your time, the first time the Occupy Leap Year cartoon appeared was in the February 29, 2012 edition of The Daily Dose accompanied by the Top Ten Leap Year jokes.

The Naming Debate for Earthlings and Martians

editorial cartoon of earthians or marslings question by laughzilla for the daily dose

They named names!

You might not think that there is much of a problem with proper naming systems.

However, when you think about the fact that we call ourselves Earthlings and yet we call creatures on Mars Martians, you should see an obvious problem, glaring right in your face.

To be fair, it’s not entirely your fault that you are part of the collective Earthling experiment. You didn’t name these words, did you?

Whatever your stance on the issue, know that it was first drawn in this cartoon by Laughzilla and published as the great Earthian or Marsling cartoon for The Daily Dose comic strip on February 24, 2012 which was well complemented by the Top Ten nomenclature jokes.

Yeah, it’s good to laugh, even at the cost of offending ETs or Humanoids.
